Equipment

  • Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 4 15-ounce canned whole white potatoes -cut in halves
  • 2 28-ounce canned Allen green beans -undrained
  • 2 14.5-ounce canned chicken broth
  • Salt & Pepper -to taste

Instructions

  • Cut each canned potato in half and place them in the crock pot.
  • Pour cans of green beans (undrained) into crock pot with potatoes.
  • Pour chicken broth on top of green beans and potatoes, and stir.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Cover with crock pot lid and cook on high for 2 hours, or until heated through.
  • Drain liquid before adding to each serving bowl. Serve warm with a side of corn bread as a full meal or as dinner sides. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

*I also sometimes add minced garlic, if I have it. (You can use jar garlic or fresh).
Also, for more flavor, you can add 1/2 pound bacon (uncooked, cut into pieces), leftover ham pieces, ham bone, or store-bought ham cubes in the package.
RECIPE TIP FOR EMERGENCY COOKING: In a pinch, like cooking during power outages, you can serve this uncooked or unheated. (Just make sure you have pre-cooked ham if you're adding that.)
